… more is needed to support children to grow in to well-balanced, happy, healthy, all round successful human beings
The mainstream education system in South Africa as well as the rest of the world has a strong focus on teaching children academic skills to prepare them for university and work life. Although academic ability is important, we believe that more is needed to support children to grow into well-balanced, happy, healthy, all round successful human beings. We also believe that children don’t necessarily learn best sitting in a classroom being ‘fed’ information by a teacher at the front of the class. We believe children learn more by doing, by being actively engaged in the world rather than passively receiving information.
This is why Earthchild Project chose to introduce HOLISTIC and EXPERIENTIAL education into the mainstream schooling system. Our focus on the environment, healthy living and life-skills aims to give children practical skills for the present and future. Co-operation, kindness, self-awareness, emotional intelligence and knowing their inner potential are things that we believe are important to learn from a young age.
