AYABULELA | Ayabulela is 12 years old, lives in Khayelitsha and is part of the Crown Sisters Young Women’s Club.


Top left: This photo is of me and my fellow Crown Sisters whom I’m in the ECP programme with. They are the ones who are close to me because they are in the same class as me. They are Likhona, Lelona, me (Ayabulela) and Zamokuhle.
Top right: This photo is of a Samalian shop, spaza shop. It is the nearest shop that we have in my community. We mostly buy little things like cold-drinks, bread and snacks. And it’s where I get help when I need to search something for school, since there’s a free ‘WIFI’.
Bottom left: This is a photo of me and my little brother whom I love. We are at my home where I live with my family. It’s us as siblings having fun like dancing.
Bottom right: This photo is of the most significant person in my community. She is also related to me by our clan names. She is the person that solves the community debates and problems. She helps many families and people.
KEEREN | Keeren is 10 years old, lives in Lavender Hill and is part of the Yoga Club.

LIKHONA | Likhona is 11 years old, lives in Khayelitsha and is part of the Yoga Club.

Top right: This photo is of me meditating before going to bed. My hair is all messed up OMG! Meditating gives me a cool mind and I love doing it.
Bottom left: This photo is of my classroom where I learn new things almost everyday. I know it looks untidy but the table with the purple bottle is my table and it is tidy. I am learning to become a great doctor one day and achieve good marks.

MIHLALI | Mihlali is 12 years old, lives in Khayelitsha and is part of the Eco Warrior Club.

Top right: This is a photo of my community and how it looks like. My community mean a lot to me and I believe that I can make a big change to it.

CHADWIN | Chadwin is 14 years old, lives in Lavender Hill and is part of the Hiking Club.


Top left: On the hike when we explored about nature, we exercised and most of all enjoyed ourselves. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot about nature. This is something I like doing.
Top right: My name is Chadwin. I like to explore nature. I am in Primary School and like nature. I took this picture to show a little of how I look. I like the way I am.

NASIPHI | Nasiphi is 13 years old, lives in Khayelitsha and is part of the Eco Warrior Club.


Top left: This is a picture of me and my friends at a place where we feel safe at school. These are my friends that I attend with the Eco Warrior classes. They also encourage me to do more about the environment.
Top right: This picture is about my dogs at home. My dogs are my best friends. When I am not okay they make me feel better. Although they do not talk, but they do make me happy. They saved me from danger. I was nearly robbed in my area. My dogs barked until the robbers ran. They saved me from many things. They are like my family now.

Bottom right: This photo is about breakfast at school. I love eating breakfast. Learners at school love eating porridge. Some even fight just because they want to eat. Me and my friends hang out to eat porridge because we love it. Porridge bring people together.

Bottom left: This is a photo of where I play during interval. And this is all the plants. I want to remember how the school looked from the inside because this is my last year in this school. And I am then going to high school.
Bottom right: This is a photo of my uncle before making sala. He always leads us during sala. He is the one who always makes me laugh. There is no other way to say it.
