“They all look so happy.” That was the most common reaction I received when I sent a picture of the kids from the schools in Khayelitsha back home to Germany. Me standing next to them in the yard, hearing them playing, probably having one kid at each hand and one hugging my waist, being part of this incredible energy and feeling my cheeks starting to ache because the smile had not left my face for hours, I wondered: “Well, why shouldn’t they?”

Building resilience this World Mental Health Day, one breath at a time
In response to childrens mental health, we launched the Earthchild Project Take5 Guided Audio Meditations for World Mental Health Month 2021 – a series of three simple, guided audio meditations available in Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa. Developed in collaboration with educators, mental health experts, and our dedicated team, these meditations were designed to be easily accessible. They can be used in classrooms, at home, or in group sessions, providing a grounding practice for children to navigate anxiety, fear, and trauma.
