What We Do

Earthchild Project is a Non-Profit Organisation operating in disadvantaged schools in Cape Town, South Africa. Working with children and teachers our educational programmes focus on the environment, health and life-skills. We teach practical skills such as yoga, mindfulness & organic gardening to over 3500 children and 300 teachers.

Earthchild Project aims to inspire a new generation of healthy, confident and conscious young leaders.

Living Classrooms

We’re turning existing classrooms into ‘living’ interactive learning environments. Working together with the teachers during class time, we’re bringing our holistic and experiential approach to education into the classroom.

Extra Murals

Our Extra Mural Clubs are held every week after school. They are an opportunity for us to work with smaller groups of mixed aged children.

Eco-Explorers

Through our Eco Explorer hikes and camps, we aim to inspire Grade 7 learners to connect with and learn about nature, as well as empowering them with life skills such as teamwork, leadership and communication. Ultimately, growing future environmental leaders who become changemakers in their communities.

Holiday Programmes

During the March school holidays, Grade 3, 4 & 5 earthchildren attend a fun and inspiring five day programme, which is facilitated with the help of our Grade 7 Young Leaders and High School Alumni. Then for one week, during the June school holidays, our Grade 7 Young Leaders join us for an intensive skills development and leadership training programme.

Teachers Wellness Conventions

Teachers play an important role in the lives of our children. Their task is to impart knowledge, as well as support, inspire and be a positive role model. The Teachers Wellness Convention aims to empower teachers with the knowledge and tools to better manage their stress and improve their health and overall well-being.

Alumni Programme

This Programme focuses on nurturing the leadership potential of a select group of our primary school graduates throughout their high school years. Through quarterly skills development workshops, an 8-day camp, and helping to organise and run our Holiday Programmes, they experience deep personal transformation and practical opportunities to implement their leadership skills.
