On a warm afternoon at the beautiful Rocklands Health and Movement Centre in Cape Town, the Earthchild Project team came together for our Annual Family Gathering. This year, we expanded the circle by inviting not only our core team, Board of Directors, and ambassadors Tamsin Sheehy and Zolani Mahola, but also a few of the partners and consultants we’ve been working more closely with. It was a special day of connection, reflection, and community.
We started the day with the calming sounds of the hang drum, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Blanche Leukes, our Lavender Hill Schools’ Programme Manager, led us in a guided meditation under the trees – a chance to slow down and reconnect with ourselves and our purpose. A light-hearted icebreaker followed, helping everyone to relax, laugh, and connect with one another.
Later in the afternoon, we joined Janet Farquharson for an uplifting song circle. Through singing and shared rhythm, the experience brought a strong sense of unity and reminded us of the power of coming together. Music has always been a part of Earthchild Project’s culture, helping us break down barriers and build connection.
The Annual Family Gathering is always a meaningful time for our team – a chance to reconnect with why we do this work and to draw inspiration from one another. As we look forward to Earthchild Project’s 20th year, we’re deeply grateful for the strength of this community and all that we can achieve together.
