As the year winds down, one of the highlights for our Earthchildren is the much-anticipated end-of-year excursions. These outings are more than just a are opportunities to create lasting memories, cultivate connections, and celebrate a year of growth and learning. This year we highlight two unforgettable adventures: the Crown Sisters’ Excursion and the Alumni Camp.
Crown Sisters’ Excursion: A Day of Laughter, Learning, and New Experiences
The recent Crown Sisters excursion was a vibrant mix of fun, reflection, and new discoveries as the girls headed out for a lovely hotel lunch. The day began in a beautifully set-up venue, where long tables were arranged in a boardroom style, adding an exciting and “fancy” touch to the event. Each girl was given a questionnaire and something to write with, setting the tone for meaningful self-reflection.
The day was filled with joyful exploration. The girls walked around, shared meals, laughed, and captured memories in photographs. For some of the girls, going to town and being in a restaurant was a first, and their excitement reflected this.
It was a chance for the girls to add another chapter to their “Her Story”, their very own vision for their lives – one filled with pride and new perspectives.
Alumni Camp: First-Time Adventures in the Cederberg
For our Alumni, this year brought their first-ever camp experience, set in the breathtaking Cederberg region. Nestled in the heart of Algeria, the camp offered an escape into nature with its towering mountains, ancient caves, and serene riverbanks.
The children embraced every moment of this adventure. Days were spent swimming in the cool river, setting up cameras to capture nocturnal animal activity, and trekking through the magnificent landscapes. While the days were warm, cloudy weather during hikes provided perfect conditions for exploring.
Evenings around the campfire were filled with the smell of toasted marshmallows, laughter from group games, and the guidance of external facilitators who brought their energy and expertise to the experience. For the Alumni, this camp was an opportunity to bond, grow, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
These end-of-year excursions capture the essence of Earthchild Project and reflect the impact of our work. As we wrap up another remarkable year, we look forward to creating even more opportunities for our Earthchildren to thrive, discover, and dream in the year to come.
