As a teenager from Lavender Hill, Catherine already carries the weight of a world that often tells girls they’re not enough. But through Earthchild Project’s Crown Sisters Club, something has shifted.
“I never actually liked myself,” she shares honestly. “But because of Crown Sisters, I’ve learned to love myself.”
Catherine is one of 92 girls across eight schools in Cape Town who attend weekly Crown Sisters sessions – safe, supportive spaces where young women gather to talk, move, create, and reflect. Each session is a step toward building self-awareness, confidence, and resilience. But for many girls, it’s also the first time they feel seen and heard.
From journaling to group discussions, art activities to quiet affirmations, the Crown Sisters journey is personal — yet shared. For Catherine, it’s not just about self-love; it’s about sisterhood.
This Women’s Month, we celebrate Catherine’s courage and the strength of girls like her who are learning to love themselves out loud. We honour the power of safe spaces, consistent support, and the sisterhood that grows from them.
Because every girl deserves to feel enough. And Catherine reminds us: she already is.
