At Ntwasahlobo Primary School, amidst a buzz of excitement, our community came together for a day that was much more than just a harvest – it was a celebration of growth, resilience, and partnership. This event, part of our ongoing collaboration with Urban Harvest, marked a significant milestone in our journey toward sustainable food production and community empowerment.
From the joy of children picking the vegetables that they had planted themselves to the shared stories about watching the garden flourish through the winter rains, this day was all about community, growth, and celebrating this wonderful oasis.
Our Ntwasahlobo garden is much more than a food garden – it’s a fertile place where:
🌱Children learn to plant, grow, and harvest their own food
🌱We grow fresh vegetables to supplement the daily meals of 1000 schoolchildren
🌱Clubs and community members come to cultivate their love of nature
🌱Children enjoy a green and beautiful space where they can be quiet and at peace
We closed the day with a communal gathering, enjoying tea, snacks, and the warmth of celebration in the winter sunshine. The garden, once a patch of barren land, now stands as a symbol of hope and resilience – a place where nature and community thrive together.
We are deeply grateful to all our supporters, donors, Earthchild eV for spearheading the GoFundMe fundraiser, Urban Harvest, Ntwasahlobo Primary School, our Garden Champions for nurturing the garden, and Team members – all of whom have made this possible. Your contributions are not just feeding our community today; they’re sowing the seeds for a sustainable future.
